Full course description

The PRESTO journey will equip you to craft and conduct an online course.  It  was created by the Online Teaching and Learning Services (OTLS) team and focuses on our instructional design process that we have termed the "Baloo" print.  Baloo is the Hindi word for Bear :)

The emphasis in this course is on providing practical materials and how-to steps to take you all the way from a blank Canvas shell to a fully developed online course that integrates video content, interactive elements, authentic assessment, and personable communication.  It is specifically tailored to Baylor's Christian culture and our specific instructional technology tools.

The intended audience is faculty and graduate students who are on the path to become professors, but it is open to anyone with an interest in online course development.  The course is self-paced and is flexible enough to accommodate those who wish to  examine particular topics and those who wish to complete the entire sequence of modules and receive a certificate.   The OTLS team is available to provide feedback on assignments and assistance throughout the course if so desired.

Material in this course will be updated on a regular basis, but some of the current topics include:

  • Canvas Sandbox Tour
